Getting The Most From HR Tech

The biggest event of the year for people like me in the HR Technology sector is right around the corner. The HR Technology Conference & Expo will bring 100s of vendors together with the industry’s top speakers, media influencers and 1000s of HR pros. Oh, and, as an added bonus, the event just so happens to be hosted in fabulous Las Vegas.

The hype has been building for weeks and now’s the time to get your plan of action in place. Here are some suggestions of things to do at the event to help attendees make the most of their time while at The HR Technology Conference & Expo.

Networking

With over 4500 professionals in one amazing venue, this is your time to ‘get yourself out there’. My experience at the event has been that if you can throw yourself in the deep end, you WILL leave the networking pool a more well connected and knowledgable professional. The event’s atmosphere is very friendly – fueled by open exchanges of ideas, excellent sessions and new innovations on the Expo floor. Say hello to the influencers, learn from speakers and share ideas and lessons with peers.

Check Out The Startup Pavilion

Okay. I admit it.. I have a thing for startups. The energy and innovation new companies bring to the event each year helps keep that buzz of engagement strong. There are some diverse and impressive vendors in this year’s Startup Pavilion including: Kinetics, Elevated Careers, HROnboard, Human Footprint, Empty Cubicle, Interviewed, Life Guides, Mroads and One Model.

Don’t Forget To Follow Up

You will meet 100s of new potential colleagues and suppliers while at the event. Not following up, however, will kill the value of your networking efforts. Put half a day aside when you get back to go through the business cards and info you collected during the sessions and Expo.

Be smart with how you collect contact info too. I’ve recently, for example, started using a clever phone app which allows me yo scan business cards directly into our CRM. There are lots of new (often free) apps and tools out there which can be big time savers and ensure you make the most from the connections made at events such as HR Tech.
