More About Helen Patterson

Helen Patterson, LL.B., LL.M., is a Workplace Expert with an in-depth knowledge in employer culture, brand and program strategy. Currently, Helen is a consultant, contributing author and blogger on HR and employment law topics with over two decades of experience. In addition to her work with Candler Chase, she runs a small consultancy Life Works Well that helps organizations create high-performance, people-focused workplaces.

She also provides input to policy and program development in HR, including any required legislative updates. This combination of expertise sets Helen apart from most consultancy groups out there. Helen has held senior leadership roles in Human Resources and employment law positions at some of the top brands in Canada, including CIBC, ADP, FootLocker, Champs and The Northern Group. She is currently the lead contributing author and editor of Terminations Best Practices and Employment Policies that Work for Thomson Reuters, both comprehensive information resources for Canadian HR professionals. At ADP, Helen held many hats including Product Compliance Manager and lead content developer for the comprehensive HR services business launched in Canada.

She is a sought-after speaker, engaging a captive audience at DisruptHR, CPA and HRPA’s annual conferences. Her passions are mentorship, work-life and caregiving strategy with a focus on helping employers develop a strategy to support employees manage their life and work challenges.
