In episode 614 of the HRchat podcast, we talk about community building and all things DisruptHR-related.My returning guest is Jennifer McClure, international speaker and co-founder of DisruptHR.
For those less familiar with the event series, DisruptHR is a global community of innovative HR pros, TA pros, and leaders. 600+ in-person events have been held in 150+ cities around the world in the past decade. The event series was started in 2013 by Jennifer and Chris Ostoich with the belief that “all business leaders need to be ready to take some risks, to stir the pot…in short, to disrupt!“.
I’ve had the privilege of being involved with various DisruptHR events over the years and I’m loving my new(ish) role as co-organizer of the DisruptHR London, Cambridge, Birmingham, and Norwich chapters.
It was with lots of gratitude for building such an awesome global business community (and for being great to work with) that I recently sat down with Jennifer to catch up, get her take on the first ten years of Disrupt, and talk about what’s coming up.
Questions for Jennifer include:
- DisruptHR is ten years old. Congrats! How has it grown and evolved over the years? Also, talk to us about the rollercoaster of 2020 to today.
- DisruptHR is back. why is disrupt still relevant and a powerful brand?
- What are some of the best chapter events you’ve attended and why?
- Top DisruptHR talks you’ve seen/watched?
- If you could have anyone you wanted (dead or alive, real or fictional) speak at a Disrupt event, who would they be and why?
- Disrupt continues to expand into new cities and territories. Why should folks think about getting involved with a chapter? What do you look for in new organizers?
