DisruptHR Louisville is happening this week and we got a chance to chat with one of the awesome speakers, Dr Bill Brantley ahead of the big event.
Q: Tell us about yourself – your career history and how you came to be in your current role
A: I’ve been a paralegal, IT developer, state government employee, Federal employee, adjunct faculty professor, and a project manager. I consider myself an accidental HR person after starting work at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management back in 2008. I came to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in September of 2015 as a training administrator.
Q: What does an average work week look like for you?
A: Administering the training for an international training academy while teaching online courses and a face-to-face course on Tuesday nights.
Q: What made you decide to be a speaker at DisruptHR Louisville?
A: Love the concept of DisruptHR and that my message would be perfect for the event.
Q: What will you be speaking about at DisruptHR Louisville?
A: Combining the IT Department with the HR Department to better meet the needs of the coming augmented workforce.
Q: What are the major lessons that attendees will take away from your session?
A: The workforce is rapidly changing as employees are using artificial intelligence applications to augment the daily work. Combining the HR Department and the IT Department removes the barriers to coordination between the departments while encouraging the organization to create a common digital platform for augmented workers.
Q: Why does Louisville need an event like DisruptHR?
A: HR is changing and events like DisruptHR is a great way to learn about the changes to HR.
Q: Are you attending/speaking at any other HR-related events in the next 6-12 months? If so which ones and why?
A: I was recently elected the Director of Virtual Programs for the DC Association for Talent Development. I will be hosting monthly HR webinars along with launching a podcast series.
