Craig Briscoe is the Vice President of HR for Dell‘s Global Commercial Sales and Enterprise Solutions Organization. Craig’s responsibility is providing HR support for 25,000 Dell employees in sales, marketing, and engineering. With Dell’s recent announcement of their intent to acquire EMC, Craig is now leading the integration of the Organization, Talent, Culture, and Change Management workstream. He considers himself “more of a business leader with an HR bent than a true policy and procedures person.”

Before joining the Global Commercial Sales and Enterprise Solutions team in 2013, Craig held several executive roles at Dell, with the most recent being the VP of HR for the Global Commercial Sales organization and also serving as the VP of Global Compensation and Benefits where his responsibilities lied in corporate, executive, and sales compensation as well as employee benefits.

At the SHRM Conference Expo 2016, Craig will be presenting, along with Jennifer Saavedra, the session “The Role of HR in Dell’s Multiple Business Transformations” which is intended for all levels of HR professionals. This session will teach HR professionals about how HR has played in supporting and driving multiple business transformations at Dell from the early 2000s – including strategic shifts, global outsourcing, privatization and building a culture of collaboration. They will discuss how employee engagement was impacted by these transformations, and how HR had to adapt its role and skillsets, as well as program offerings during this 15-year journey. Some key learning outcomes are:

  • How HR can support and play a leadership role during business transformations. This is especially pertinent for HR leaders in companies that are being asked to support large-scale business transformations.
  • How employee engagement is affected by successive transformations and how business and HR leaders need to communicate through these transformations – many of which span multiple years.
  • How specific HR programs and policies (focus on incentives and leadership selection/ competencies) play a direct role in driving business success.

Outside of work, Craig loves traveling for both work and pleasure, due to the personal connections it has allowed Craig to make with some of the wonderful people from various cultures around the world.
