Well, I have to start with some facts, good, bad and why….

Facts are something that people just do not like to have, like change; no one seems to live change. I LOVE change and here are my reasons why. Change is not always bad; it really depends on the spin you place on it. Change is necessary every now and again. If you never had any kind of a change in your life, you would be a very dull and burnt out person.

You see in the human factor as much as we might grumble about change, it is actually good for you. When we change things within our life such as our jobs (and I am referring to all changes good and bad) we usually expect that this change is going to either destroy our life or our career. Why not embrace it?

Yes I really did say embrace it. We feel like a failure when we are terminated from our job. That is the normal reaction. Everyone things of a termination as they failed to do something right or that they are not a successful person. Why is that? Why not think of it on the positive side?

Yes again you heard me correctly. A positive thought is not what did you do wrong, but rather what did you do right? When you look back, after grumbling about it for a week, think of the things you did, your accomplishments. Is it at all possible there was something that you did so perfectly that you were getting a light shined on you for a possible raise, or better yet, a promotion? Were you working with some people that were a little afraid that you did a major part of their job so right that you embarrassed them?

Sometimes we need to take a step back and reassess what has happened. When you get that promotion or the raise you were hoping for, remember that feeling? You felt as if you have achieved something and how it was going to make a positive impact on your life.

When you leave work you always feel a sense of something. What is the feeling that you have? A sense of relief that you were not dismissed today, and you have another days pay. Or when you received that corner office and that raise in your pay you feel relieved and proud. When you leave with the things in your box from your desk you feel like you need to be hit by a bus.

These are called emotions or facts. These are the things that no one wants to feel. This is the way you head home. This is life and it is your life so change that feeling. Make sure that your doing the one thing that you really enjoy doing, leave work feeling like you have accomplished something today. Head home feeling like you just tackled the world and now you’re on top.

Facts are that regardless of what happened at work today, when you are not going home feeling a sense of “aahhh I did that today” feeling, then maybe it is time for you to have a look at your career path and see what colour the light is. Is it green for an all is good and go ahead, or is it red for halt, stop, back up and turn around.

To be terminated is not always a bad thing; remember when you were at a company thinking life was grand only to learn you were being let go? Now think of what you did and where you went once you were no longer at the other place.

One door closes and 3 more open, think of the facts. They are very important for your next career move.
